A Day in the Life
8:00 Rise and shine! Residents with children share a room with their child and share a bathroom with their neighbor. Pregnant women may share a room with other pregnant women.
8:30 Prepare and eat breakfast. Residents are responsible for their own grocery shopping and food preparation. They have access to the community kitchen.
9:00 Walk child to daycare. Arbor House helps residents with children with daycare costs.
9:30 – 11:00 Attend morning classes. Topics include parenting, journaling, a Bible study, health and wellness, money management, and other life skills. Some days could include individual or group tutoring.
12:00 – 1:00 Prepare and eat lunch. Make phone calls, work on task lists, and work on homework.
1:00 – 5:00 Work in our on site work program, Cottage Industries. Residents learn crafting and sewing while gaining confidence and learning valuable workplace skills. The women earn money to pay rent, a percentage of daycare, and money to cover other expenses.
5:15 Walk to pick up child from daycare.
6:00 Prepare and eat dinner with your child
7:00 – 8:00 Complete assigned chores.
8:30 Put child to bed
8:30 – 10:00 Study and homework time. Sleep tight!
