Housing FAQ’s
“What are your programs? What services do you offer?”
Arbor House, a living and learning motherhood community, serves homeless single mother families while they pursue goals that lead to self-sufficiency. Through housing, counseling, life skills training, parenting classes, part-time employment, career counseling, and educational opportunities, Arbor House accompanies these families on their journey toward stability, independence, and spiritual wholeness.
We have two programs: New Beginnings and Mom’s Place. New Beginnings is a transitional housing program for adult homeless women who are pregnant and have no other children in their care. Mom’s Place is a long term transitional housing program for adult homeless women with one small child in their care.
“I need housing NOW! Do you offer emergency housing?”
Arbor House is not an emergency shelter or a short term sheltor. We are a long term transistional housing program. We do have a waiting list, interview, and screening process that may take some time. We do not offer applicants housing within a certain time frame and, if you are eligible, the process could take several weeks.
“How long is the waiting list OR how long before you have openings?”
It’s hard to say. There may be people ahead of you on the waiting list, but when we call to interview them, they may not be eligible or need housing anymore. I would get my application in as soon as possible to secure your spot on the waiting list.
“I am parenting more than one child. Am I eligible?”
We can only provide housing to women that have only one child under the age of six due to funding constraints. Some women make arrangements for other children to live with a relative while living at Arbor House.
“I am pregnant and am parenting a child. Am I eligible?”
